Icon of Sin was released in 1999 on Square Squid Production, the in-house imprint of David Lenci's Sound Machine studio. Dawn of Sadness, which had put out the debut, did not return for the second album, so the record came out on the producer's own label: semi-self-released in editorial terms, but on a real label.

Before that, interest had arrived from Nuclear Blast America. The deal stalled at the German headquarters, where the European parent blocked it. An Italian band, in Mauro's account, simply wasn't of interest to NB Europe. The album went back to the independent road. Promotion was entrusted to Enrico Giannone of the Undertakers, then launching Kick Promotion Agency, and the underground network answered with reviews, interviews and coverage in American fanzines.

The response was extraordinary. Icon of Sin was hailed as the most devastating album of 1999 and cited by several American webzines among the year's best technical death metal records. One of the most in-depth reviews, on Flash Metal, stamped it new comer and gave it a full score of 100 out of 100. The American fanzine Music Scene International ran an AydrA interview under the title The Italian Connection.

The booklet listed them plainly: Mauro Pacetti, Francesco Olivi, Marcello Lammoglia, Nicola Raffaeli.
