40 Years of Chaos · EP.16 — Icon of Sin Travels the World
Icon of Sin never stayed inside Italy. Through mail-order, local fanzines and the international tape-trading network, it reached Southeast Asia: Speedrawk Records & Distribution of Malacca, in Malaysia — the same label that had already reissued Psycho Pain Control — put it out on cassette for the regional underground circuit. Indonesia followed with Dahmer Rec, a label tied to the Jakarta death and grindcore scene. Cassette again: the dominant medium of the Asian underground at the time.
The second life of the record came in the post-tape-trading era. On 15 March 2016 the Russian label Magik Art Entertainment, from Rostov on Don, released Icon of Sin Anthology in digital format. It was the first time PPC, Penance Stare and Icon of Sin were gathered in a single official international release: twenty tracks in all — ten from Icon of Sin with the bonus No R.M.X, five from Psycho Pain Control plus the outro Heart Control, and four from the 1994-95 demo Penance Stare.
One year later, in 2017, came Panama: Bluespoon issued Icon of Sin and Psycho Pain Control together on CD, with dedicated artwork and a redesigned booklet. A record made in the Marche, pressed and re-pressed across three continents.
