40 Years of Chaos · EP.22 — The Come Back Show and Destroyer Festival

Five years after the silence, AydrA walked back onto a stage. The come back show of 2013 had a special guest that made the night more than a reunion: Hydra, the historic root of the band, played too — the origin coming back to weld itself to what had grown out of it. On stage with them were Giovanni Rovatti, founder of the band, on guitar, and Cardinaletti on vocals.

Before the AydrA set, Mauro joined Hydra to close their show. Together they played three tracks — All Mod Cons, Nightdrive and Carnage. For a few minutes, under the same lights, the two bands became literally a single voice: the line that had started everything and the line that had carried it into technical death metal, sharing the same microphone.

Then came AydrA's own set with the reunion quintet — Mauro, Mastro, Giuseppe, Luca and Marco — and a crowd that, it turned out, had never really left. The local press covered the return. Shortly after, the band was back on the big stages at the Destroyer Festival, the confirmation that 2013 wasn't a one-night nostalgia trip but the real beginning of AydrA's second life.
