40 Years of Chaos · EP.23 — Balkan Tour 2013

After the 2013 reunion dates and the Destroyer Festival, Mastro left again. His role in AydrA had always been intertwined with his work as a health worker for Médecins Sans Frontières, and he chose to devote himself fully to humanitarian missions. The band lost its bassist — and the man who had put it back together. On bass came Andrea "Masso" Massetti, from the Marche underground scene: a smooth transition, consistent with what the band had built, with a new personal mark.

With Masso, AydrA went beyond the Italian borders on tour through the Balkans alongside Infernal Poetry. The friendship between the two bands goes back to the very beginning — to when Infernal Poetry were still called Lamiera, and Mastro played with them at the birth of the project. Dozens of shared stages, tours and posters, and a personal bond that has run through decades of underground scene.

That tour is remembered more for the brotherhood and the mishaps than for the organisation. In Mostar, after a show, the promoters said the accommodation was a three-minute walk away. The band walked far longer, dragging instruments and luggage up an endless flight of stairs into an almost empty flat. "Three minutes walk" became the comic and tragic symbol of that night — and, years later, the title of a song.
