40 Years of Chaos · EP.25 — Psycho Pain Control 2024

The second single from the new course arrived on 22 August 2024, and it was not a new song. Psycho Pain Control 2024 is the reinterpretation of the track that opened the 1996 debut album of the same name — the song written by Mauro Pacetti that had set the coordinates of everything AydrA would become.

The original was recorded at Sound Machine Rec in Ancona with David Lenci, released in September 1996 with artwork by Lorenzo Luzi. It had the raw, youthful energy of a band still discovering its own language, somewhere between technical thrash and death metal. Marcello Lammoglia played the clean guitar on it, a premonition of the line-up change that would arrive a few months later.

Twenty-eight years on, the same song is played by a different band with the same spirit. As AydrA put it, the new version works as a bridge between past and present: the original had the fire of the debut, the new reading shows a more mature, more precise group that has never cut the cord with what defined it.

It is a tribute to the roots and, at the same time, a statement of continuity — the past not repeated, but re-read.
