40 Years of Chaos · EP.35 — The Best of AydrA

The Best of AydrA is a promotional CD, for promotional use only — and it may be the widest-travelling object in the whole story.

Twelve tracks, balanced across the entire discography: four from Leave to Nowhere, four from Hyperlogical Non-Sense, four from Icon of Sin. From the heart of the nineties to 2024, a single door into thirty years of records for anyone opening it for the first time.

Around 5,000 copies were pressed on Rude Awakening and bundled free with magazines and zines worldwide: Metalized in Denmark, Slowly We Rot in Romania, Necroscope in Poland, Trono de Ratas in Mexico, Metalegion in Portugal, and Soulgrinder Zine in the United States across two issues.

It is the same logic that had carried the band through the eighties and nineties — printed press, physical objects, direct contact — scaled up to an international campaign. No algorithm, no playlist: a disc slipped inside a magazine, landing in the hands of someone who might never have typed the name AydrA into a search bar.

Five thousand copies, six countries, three albums, one band. The best possible answer to a question the band had been living with since the comeback: how do you make people find you again?
