Icon of Sin Reissue Scores 9.5/10 in Australia
Headbangers Australia has reviewed the 2026 remaster of Icon of Sin, and gave it 9.5/10.
Reviewer glennosp writes that compared to the original release the reissue "has been beefed up resulting in a large weighty sound enriched with warm tones", and hears in the record the lineage the band grew from — Atheist, Cynic, Death, Pestilence, with notable odes to Kreator and Slayer.
The review singles out the rhythm section: a bass with "flawless tweaks, pops and fills that would have Tony Choy fans applauding", and drumming that travels "from thrashy metal beatings to mesmerizing avant jazz trickery". Among the studio tracks it points to Lost Time Fury, Night Drive and the industrial N.O. RMX V2.
Its verdict: "Icon of Sin is a mandatory opus of unique dynamics and complex virtues. AydrA are an exceptional band that combine technical brilliance and emotional depth."
Twenty-seven years after the album was recorded in Falconara, on the other side of the world.
